happy new year
I laid on Winslow all day yesterday. My Honey intermittingly laid beside on me Ashley. Winslow and Ashley are our couches. We each have our own couch, which I truly believe is one of the reason we are still together. I got up fairly early, showered, and got dressed for the gym, but as I came down the stairs all plans for working out went out the window.
While I ate my pre-workout snack (potato chips and diet coke), I turned on the boob tube and was totally sucked into a television coma. Yesterday’s delight was TLC’s eight hour marathon of Miami Ink. My Honey came and went but didn’t linger long as he had absolutely no interest in watching eight hours of people wincing under the needle. Sue T came over to belatedly celebrate my birthday with me (41 for a moment) and joined me for six hours of the marathon.
Needless to say, I spent all my free time at work looking through different art, graphic design, and religious imagery books. Poppa needs a new tattoo. The one I got in August is already old news and I’m feeling the need for fresh ink.
I looked through several Japanese artist books but I’m certain that I won’t get anything Asian inspired. I love the look of Kanji characters and the whole samurai-koi-dragon thing, but I would feel silly having it since it isn’t my culture.
Allan once told me about a friend of a friend (smells like an urban legend) who got Asian characters inked on his neck and someone stopped him soon after he got it and asked him why he had broccoli tattooed on his neck. At lunch today, Frank told me about his friend’s friend who thought his arm tat said “health and prosperity” but it actually said “General Tso’s Chicken.” I wonder what the symbol for egg roll looks like.
I don’t have a religious inkling, but I totally dig the look of the cross, however, I’m not going to get one because I think it would be awkward always explaining that, to me, it’s just a cool symbol of two straight lines in the form of a “t.” However, I am contemplating getting “Save Me Jebus” in cursive writing on the inside of my right bicep. Jebus is one my pet names for My Honey. That and “Chuleta,” which he totally hates. I’m definitely not getting a pork chop on my body. Egg roll, maybe, pork chop, that’s just silly.
I just did a quick search for Puerto Rican imagery and a few things came up; Coqui, cute but it’s just a frog; Cemi stone … maybe; Vejigante ...
Hmmm …
Gonna research the cemi and vejigante thing ...
Toodles!

Happy Birthday Handsome.
About Chinese lettered tattoos, I screw with people by telling them its something else other than what they thought.
Always be knowledgeable, do your own research.
