is it christmas yet?
My diseased ridden desktop computer has finally met its fate. It sits at the foot of our bed waiting for final disposition. Thank you Mr. Spyware Developer for rendering my old gal utterly useless. You fucking shithead.
That places me one step closer to owning an Apple laptop. I have been slow moving on this, but I’ll get it when the time is right for me... and I know that time is coming real soon since Papi (literally not figuratively) sent us a very generous Holiday gift which covers a third of the projected cost.
I went shopping with HH this week and got My Honey’s final gifts ... at least I thought so until I wrapped all of them and it just didn’t seem like there was enough under the tree for him. We agreed on a limit for gifts (which I exceeded by 50%), so I think I'll go out and get more gifts for him on Saki’s behalf. Boston’s have superior taste.
HH told me over dinner at Elephant & Castle (eh) that her ex stopped by the previous evening sporting a nifty new jacket. She asked where he got it up and he proudly told her he picked it up at a good will store. She then told him it might not be a good idea for him to wear his ladies sportswear jacket to the law firm where he works. Diet Coke fought its way through my nose but I managed to stifle it. He’s an ex for a reason.
That reminded me of a hilarious David Sedaris bit in which his sister takes him to the little miss department to buy him clothing that’s more suited to his small frame. He’s happy with his selections until he stands in front of the urinal and realizes he has to unzip the back of his pants.
Plans to loaf all day on Christmas have been modified. DH, an old work friend of mine, stopped by the store and invited us to dinner with his family. His sister, a very well known jazz singer, recently passed away, so we’re touched that he asked us to join his family in what will be a very special Christmas (but not special like an episode of Blossom).
Work continues to kick my ass. Just a few more days before the madness ends. I am totally surprised at the crap people will buy just because it is on the queue line. This week I moved the following items to the queue; soaps, candles, slippers, mini office kits, chess sets, sushi kits, yoga & pilates mats, body oils and lotions, martini shakers, coasters, Christmas ornaments, t-shirts, picture frames, and, although there wasn’t much room left, I managed to squeeze in some books too.
We have exceeded company expectations for the store and even got a visit from the regional office head. They were very interested in our incredible growth over last year's holiday season. Duh … hello … you hired me for a reason. Raises in April … I may have to play hardball.
Random post, but it’s what was on my mind.
P.S. A big thank you to the bloggers who inspired me to start a blog this year ... EvilBuddha, Robocub, Blather&Bosh, Boozhy, We Like Sheep, Rocco, OPIEblue, Thought Not, Towleroad, Joshes, Large Tony, Moby, Homer, Jimbo, NoFo, PlanetDan, Jake Bronstein, Dan Renzi, Texanomaly. I may not comment much (or at all in many cases) but I read religiously and am grateful for you keeping me in touch with my favorite areas of the country. Felicidades!

You'll be a "switcher" soon enough. :)
Isn't it amazing how many tchotchkes people buy? Utterly useless.
Hope your post-holiday is a little more sane and congrats on your success.
Glad I can inspire, as you do the same for me as well.
Here's looking forward to the upcoming year.
Felicidades to you and your Honey too. And hurry and get the Mac already. You can probaby get a good deal on a PowerPC Mac as the new Intel Macs will be out shortly.
