i'm back from exile island
Things have been very stressful at both work and home fronts. When I get home, I try to escape it all by sitting in front of the boob tube watching senseless programming for hours. We finally got rid of the crappy TiVo-like machine and replaced it with a Comcast Digital Cable box. That's more reliable programming for me and ten more dollars a month for Comcast. It's win-win all around. That's brings the monthly Comcast bill to $170. I sure am glad we have anti-monopoly laws protecting our rights as a consumer or we'd be paying really ridiculous rates for cable.
Things at home have settled down after a few tense months in which both our positions were in jeopardy. My Honey finally left the evil empire after six years (almost two years after I left) and began working for a different retailer. Turns out the grass there isn't any greener. He tried getting his old job back but he's still waiting for the call back from the DM (affectionately called A**hole by anyone who works for him). He's sticking it out with the new folks since he previously worked with several of their decision makers (that and the fact that they pay him well).
My job is really sucky and there were a few days in May when I seriously considered leaving my keys on the desk and walking away from it all. Fortunately for all concerned parties (well, mostly me), I balance my checkbook on a daily basis and realized that there aren't many jobs out there that will regularly deposit the salary I'm making into my bank account. Sparing you all the tedious details (mostly because we all had to sign "I won't blog about work" forms), someone recently told me, "that's not how __________ normally functions." My response, "Really, funny that you think that cause that's exactly how __________ has functioned for the year I've been here."
I'm certain I'll win lotto someday and never have to work for someone else, but the chances of that happening may be better if I actually bought the damn lotto ticket on a regular basis.
Toodles.
