good friends ...
Holly, one of my dearest friends, who now lives in Vicksburg, em-eye-es-es-eye-es-es-eye-pee-pee-eye, is in town this week to attend a wedding. She stopped by this morning and we had a blast running around Pentagon Row feeding her and her unnamed baby female, age – negative four months.
Our first stop was Thaiphoon for Pina Coladas (coke for Unnamed Baby Female), spring rolls and my favorite Thai dish, drunken noodle. I enjoy the food there more and more with every visit.
Holly didn’t spot the Maggie Moos across the skating rink because of her pregnancy induced blurred vision, but her spidey sense must have tingled because ice cream references crept into our conversation. We waddled over and Holly ordered French Vanilla in a cup topped with peanut butter syrup, but Unnamed Baby Female chimed in and insisted that the server also fold in a Chocolate Brownie and some Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. Those of us who are lactose intolerant stuck with raspberry sherbet topped with chocolate syrup. The total came to a whopping $12.89 (Unnamed Baby Female must have added truffles but was too embarrassed to admit it). Delicioso!
Unnamed Baby Girl then craved something black and bitter (Bruce wasn't around) so we left Maggie Moos and walked all of thirty feet to this new coffee cafe concept called Starbucks. There isn’t one in Vicksburg ... how is that possible? The closest one is forty-five minutes away. “Honey, I’m going for coffee, I'll be back in an hour and a half, did you want something?”
Although we speak twice a month, seeing Holly reminded me of how much I miss having her and her family in the area and also how much fun it is to spend an entire day doing nothing with someone you adore.
By the by ... the perfect Pina Colada
1 cup of ice
3 oz of Barcardi Light Rum
4 oz of Pineapple Juice
2 oz of Creme of Coconut, Goya of course
1 oz of Amaretto
Blend ... Garnish ... Drink ... Make More
per ounce so multiply by ... a lot
