my heart belongs to daddy

It’s just a few days before Valentine’s Day and as usual I am at a lost as to what I should give my honey. I wonder if couples who have been together for as long as we have (we’re in our fifteenth year) also have this issue. In the past, I have purchased cutesy gift items, but I no longer want to waste my money on something that, although appreciated, will eventually end up in the yard sale pile.

Things I have given:
Sexy underwear … nothing sexier than tighty-blackies
Stuffed Animal … our dog has absconded with all of them
Wanda & Cosmo Bookmarks … he’s more into gay icon Spongebob
Magnetic Meat Market Writing Pad … this we still have and use
Chocolate … especially expensive chocolate

Things I won’t give:
Jewelry … he never wears the mermaid pinky ring his grandfather left him
Appliances … we’re still renting and besides, it’s not Mother’s Day
Flowers … I’m just not a flower guy (but it’s not about me is it?)

Considering:
Clothing … ever so safe and exchangeable
DVD box set … my standard gift for every occasion
Digital Camera … our current cam was one of the firsts to hit the market
Naughty Item ... something from the Leather Rack … more a gift for me
Sakiphernalia … featuring the newest love of his life … our puppy

I'll get my act together by Monday. Giftwise that is. I do wish I was a bit more creative as my my honey always goes all out for Valentine’s Day. One year, I came home and our bedroom was filled with fifty helium-filled-red-heart-balloons. It was a beautiful sight and so unexpected. He totally surprised me again, the next year, by doing the same thing.

I’m very lucky because my honey is so appreciative of anything I give him even if it’s not gift wrapped (which it usually isn’t). I have four days to pull this together. I can do it!
